Compassionate Ministries

Through worship and spiritual formation, we mysteriously take on the self-giving nature of Christ. We are reminded that we are not only set apart not from the world, but for the sake of world–for the glory of God. We recognize that our participation in the redemption of our city is not advanced through haughty arguments, but instead in service to each other and the neighborhood which we inhabit.

Our expression of worship and formation intends to develop in us a heart for Christ’s mission. We are told to go (Matthew 28:19-20)! In Romans 10 Paul expresses that the church is sent to tell the ‘good news’ -we have a beautiful story to tell, to invite others into. In scripture, this ‘telling’ is typically found alongside good works and acts of charity. Preaching found throughout the Bible is often a response to wonders and signs, including acts of compassion such as healing (Acts 2:43-47). Redeemer seeks not just to tell the good news, but to embody–or be good news.

Our Ministry Partners

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month our parish helps host a free dinner at Western Carolina Rescue Ministries.

We’ve created a sign-up spreadsheet for 2023 and linked to it below. We’re seeking a Lead Person for each month who will gather a group of 4—8 volunteers (youth and adults) to serve at the dinner. Sign up at the link below!

Additionally, every Tuesday evening we serve the families of Abba’s House at Western Carolina Rescue Ministries. Our desire is to support those who have sought help in their journey toward health and spiritual wellness, by loving and caring for their children while parents are given the opportunity to attend classes.

Benevolence Fund

Redeemer has a special fund designated to help those in our community who find themselves in need. Benevolence disbursements can provide for the basic necessities of life such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care, financial support, etc.

Benevolence requests can be made by the person requesting assistance or by someone who is directly assisting the person in need. To request benevolence, read through our Benevolence Policy, linked below, then download and fill out the Benevolence Request form, also linked below. Completed forms can be emailed to rebekah@redeemerasheville.com, mailed to the church, or turned in in person to any member of the clergy or staff. If you need a printed copy of either document, email rebekah@redeemerasheville.com.
